Nickel superalloy cage with near-zero CTE delivering up to 60 dB vibration isolation for sub-nanometre measurement systems.

Sub-nanometre precision in a vibrating environment.

High-precision scientific instruments — capable of measurement at the sub-nanometre scale — are highly sensitive to structural vibration. Any environmental disturbance transmitted through the support structure can corrupt measurements.

Additionally, thermal expansion of the support cage causes dimensional drift across temperature gradients — a compounding source of measurement error that conventional isolation approaches do not address.

Geometry and material working together.

A nickel superalloy cage was designed with internal metamaterial geometry that creates a structural acoustic bandgap in the target vibration frequency range. The cage geometry simultaneously provides up to 60 dB of vibration isolation while the superalloy material delivers a near-zero coefficient of thermal expansion.

The result is a support structure that isolates the instrument from both vibration and thermal-induced dimensional change — without adding excessive mass or complexity.

"Geometry and material, working together — not in isolation."

60 dB isolation. Near-zero CTE.

Demonstrated performance across both vibration isolation and thermal stability in a single engineered structure. A validated path for precision instrument deployment in industrial or laboratory environments.
